SIRV membership criteria
The TRAINING PROGRAMME, comprising two parts and described below, must be completed and validated:
1/ The basic course, consisting of five to six days of training with an initiation into vestibular rehabilitation.
This first contact with vestibular rehabilitation comprises the following topics:
Multimodal function of equilibration and its actors: sensory, visual, vestibular, proprioceptive and extereoceptive afferents – Motor efference Vestibular anatomy: acceleration sensors Vestibular physiology focusing on acceleration sensors – Physiology of the equilibration system Neuro-physiology (peripheral and central) Nystagmus (1st part): definition, of "normal" nystagmus... The reflexes: vestibulo-ocular, vestibulo-spinal and other reflexes that play a role in equilibration Vestibular exploration and nystagmus (2nd part) Physiopathology of vestibular disorders. Vertigo sufferers, clinical sessions, experiences. Classification of intervention measures of disorders Study and the provision of care with physiopathology, reeducation Rehabilitation of the following syndromes or disorders: 1 - V.P.P.B. (Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo) 2 – Omission syndrome of vestibular information, neurosensory disruptions and their care, travel sickness 3 – Vestibular Neuritis and hyper-reflectivity (Physiopathologies, provision of care, reeducation, rehabilitation) 4 – Bilateral areflexias Counterindications, contributions, results. Become major pathologies
2/ At least one complementary training session comprising two days of professional development and practical classes in vestibular rehabilitation designed and given exclusively by Alain Sémont.

Special instances: for ENT Specialists, Training in their specialisation, which can be attested to by their diploma enables them to become a member without taking any supplementary courses; but they are required to 1/ attest to their interest in vestibular exploration by having in their possession a modern and specially adapted technical equipment: VNG or equivalent and..., of course, 2/ attest to their interest in vestibular rehabilitation by having taken part in at least one SIRV Congress.
